What you will need:
-
Angus beef
-
Broccoli
-
Jasmine rice
-
Teryaki sauce
-
Garlic
-
Garlic powder
-
Onion powder
-
Kosher salt
-
Sesame seeds
-
Flour
01
Broccoli
-
Add olive oil to a pan at medium-high heat.
-
Add in 1 clove of garlic and sauté until fragrant.
-
Lightly season with garlic powder and onion powder to taste.
-
Sauté until dark green and wilted.
-
Remove from heat and place into a separate bowl. (As seen in the picture)
02
Angus Beef
-
Slice each cube of beef in half for a more tender cook.
-
Season the beef with garlic, onion powder, and a light amount of kosher salt.
-
If necessary, add a bit more olive oil into the same pan we used for the broccoli and bring it to a medium-high heat.
-
Once the pan is ready, add the beef in.
-
Spread out the meat so that it isn't overcrowded (this leads to steaming instead of searing).
-
Let sit for about 3-5 minutes or until the bottom becomes brown with signs of char. Remember, do not bother the meat once it touches the pan. To check for doneness, use a meat thermometer or check an individual piece.
-
Once ready, flip each piece over one by one and sear for 3-5 minutes on the other side.
* We use the same pan because the cooked veggies left a fond which will add additional flavor to the meat. (A fond is just a flavorful liquid that you'll get after cooking vegetables or browning meat).
03
Sauce
-
Once the other side starts to get brown, throw in the broccoli.
-
Next, pour in teriyaki sauce.
-
To thicken the sauce, push the beef and broccoli to the perimeter of the pan and pour about 1/4th a cup of flour into the center.
-
Mix this with the sauce until
04
Plating
I served the beef and broccoli over rice and added sesame seeds for garnish and taste.
